There are two types of embroiderers on Amazon: those who swear BY cheap thread, and those who swear AT it. Embroidex is one of the most visible budget brands, offering 40 spools for the price of 5 premium ones. But does it actually sew?
The Good: Price and Color Variety

If you are just starting and need to build a color library, this set is unbeatable. You get 40 distinct colors. For simple designs (children’s clothes, practice), it works fine.
The Bad: Consistency Issues
The problem with Embroidex is Quality Control. One gray spool might sew beautifully, while the red spool in the same box shreds every 500 stitches. The thread often has “slubs” (thick spots) that get stuck in the needle eye.
The Verdict
Buy it for practice. Buy it for the colors you rarely use (like obscure purples). But do not use it for a paid customer order. The risk of a thread break ruining a $30 polo shirt isn’t worth saving $0.50 on thread.
